The Description

As this is the first US schooling experience for my students, I always try to build a welcoming classroom environment - decorations (especially holidays), birthday gift bags, etc. This year I’m starting with a bare classroom - not even bookcases. I would appreciate help with flexible seating, translation dictionaries, printer paper, etc. As of August 29th my classroom now needs portable speakers as I was informed by technology that my smartboard has none. I teach beginner ESL ELA, so it’s imperative I have visuals and auditory learning for my students. I appreciate anything that is contributed.

I am a middle school ESL ELA teacher relocating from Houston, TX to Reading, PA. The Reading School District teacher contracts just ended August 31st and our first pay will not be distributed until September 13th. RSD is Title 1, 80% Hispanic, 25% ESL and one of the lowest funded in the nation as well as the lowest rated in PA. I work tirelessly to provide the best experience for my students from technology integration, personalization, purchasing books out of pocket and gifting them to students, etc. My DonorsChoose bookcase project had to remain at my previous school, so I’ve started from scratch.
