Building a Strong Foundation: Classroom Supplies

The Description

I am raising funds to get the essentials for my very first classroom! On August 12th I will welcome about 20 bilingual students into my dual language 1st grade classroom in San Antonio. One of the biggest hurdles that students in high-need schools face is a lack of materials and resources needed daily. It is hard for students to feel welcome and engaged when they do not have basic supplies or a comfortable space. As a dual language classroom we need posters, labels, books, and materials in both English and Spanish that are authentic to the language, culture, and identities of the community.

With these funds I will be able to obtain the materials necessary to start building a safe and nourishing environment for my students. This includes supplies such as pencil sharpeners, staplers, staples, hole punchers, pencils, markers, crayons etc. It also includes materials to make the class more welcoming and accessible with supplies such as a rug for sitting, stretching, and dancing, anchor charts (for visual learners), manipulatives (for kinesthetic learners) and materials to make bulletin boards that reflect my students' stories, interests, and communities.

Every dollar I receive will be put towards classroom supplies so anything you can contribute really will make a difference for my students. Thank you so much in advance for supporting me and my students at the beginning of this exciting journey!

Back Up Plan

If I do not meet my goal, I will purchase as many materials as possible.
