If you only read the headlines, you would likely have a dismal picture of Halifax County. Drug busts. Fighting. Arrests. "Academic Genocide." Unfortunately, the positives are all too often overlooked.

Southeast Halifax High is a Halifax County school that, despite its imperfections, has continuously grown and improved over the past few years. Thanks to a steadfast administration, a dedicated staff, and a hard-working cohort of students, Southeast has improved testing scores, received its accreditation, and increased the school's rank within the state.

Unfortunately, despite its areas of success, Southeast has yet to overcome the poverty that plagues much of the county. According to indexmundi.com, Halifax has the 6th highest number of persons below poverty level in the state of North Carolina. As a staff, we find ourselves in constant need of supplies, including basic necessities such as pencils and printer ink.

This PledgeCents would raise money for general classroom supplies--pencils, paper, notebook dividers, etc.--that would go to ALL staff so that we might be better equipped in the classroom (and have less to pay out of pocket).
