Full STEAM Ahead With littleBits

The Description

This year I want to implement littleBits electronic learning blocks in my classroom so my students are able to develop their creative confidence and curiosity. With littleBits my students will be able to use the color coded building blocks to create and test inventions both big and small. This way they can use both their hands and brains to solve real world problems when their isn’t a clear solution. I want to emphasize to my students that they don’t have to be just consumers of technology, they can also be inventors.

littleBits are comprised of 60 different color-coded modules that can be connected to make over a million different electronic combinations. Students are able to use different combinations buzzers, switches, lights, wheels and more to create anything that they put their mind to.

This is where you come in! With every generous donation that is made littleBits will be one step closer to my students’ hands.

Here is the breakdown of our goal of $2,349.48 for littleBits

littleBits Student STEAM Set (x8)$2,279.00
WePay payment processing fee$70.48
Total goal amount$2,349.48

Back Up Plan

If we do not reach our goal, my principal has pledged to purchase a limited number of kits to get started with the new program in the Fall.  We will also approach the PTO for matching funds to support this program for our students.  I have written some grants for other parts of the Innovation Lab, which include 3D printers and craft materials.  We currently have some Lego Ed resources that we can jumpstart the program, but the students will really \"put the pieces" together when they are able to use LittleBits and LegoEd together to create/invent to complement each other.  My principal and I have been planning this new program for our school for 3 months now and are really excited in transforming the traditional computer lab into a truly innovative learning space for the future.
