The Description

With these funds I will invest in several floor puzzles for my scholars.  I believe puzzles are a valuable enrichment activity that will promote and challenge my scholars thinking while exercising their minds. Puzzles will allow my scholars to work together and provide them with opportunities to promote and enhance their social intelligence and improve their patience, problem solving skills, fine motor skills, and hand-eye coordination.  Puzzles also provide students with a sense of accomplishment and increase their self-confidence and self-esteem by overcoming the challenges of solving a puzzle.  Having puzzles in my class will enhance my scholars' language skills because they will encourage them to engage in conversations with their peers to help them complete the puzzle.

Back Up Plan

If I do not meet my goal I will still invest in as many floor puzzles as I can to help provide my scholars with an additional way to encourage and enhance their social intelligence and spatial awareness.

About the Creator

My name is Jasmine Ivy. I currently teach 3rd grade in a low socio-economic area in South Los Angeles. It has also been my dream to become an elementary school teacher. After graduating from Dorsey High, I went to Santa Monica College and then transferred to CSU Dominguez Hills where I received a Bachelor's Degree and teaching credential. My most memorable teaching moment is starting my first day teaching the day President Barack Obama was elected (the first time).
