I teach 10th grade at a very high poverty school. Many of my students will be the first in their family to graduate from high school and go to college. As their teacher I am doing my best to get their reading level up so that they can pass the FCAT (a test they have to pass for graduation). To raise my students test scores they use a computer program called Reading Plus. However, with only 5 working computers in the class and them being very slow, many times they spend half the class just logging on. With the tablet they will be able to sit comfortably at their seat and work without worrying about it freezing or not saving their work. They will also be able to use it for e-books instead of worrying about which books I have available and that they are torn. With the Nooks they will have access to all books.

These Nooks are going to open all kinds of doors for them and help their test scores by making them more comfortable when they start working on their reading level. They will be able to work on Reading Plus when they want and not have to worry about the computers not working
