Rectenwal Classroom Supplies

The Description

As a 2018 Teach for America corps member, I am currently undergoing an intensive seven week training process while also teaching third grade math. I  am learning a lot about culturally responsive teaching, classroom culture, and student/family engagement. However, with each day it becomes more apparent that setting up and running a classroom is an investment that teachers make every year. Particularly in high needs areas, students often go without the necessary materials that they need on a daily basis. This makes it incremently more difficult as a teacher to make sure that students are engaged and ready to succeed in their education.

These funds will directly contribute to creating a positive classroom culture that promotes student-centered learning, engagement, and lifelong leadership. The supplies will be used daily and will help meet my students' basic needs in the classroom and maintain their interest in classroom work.

My students will know that these contributions show that they have a community of support (from near and far) in their educational journey.

Back Up Plan

If I do not reach my goal, I will prioritize the necessary materials to purchase first (such as pencils and paper). I would then purchase the remaining materials gradually once I begin earning paychecks from CPS.
