The Description

For those you who do not know, I am part of Teach for America teaching at an urban district in Kansas City. I am beyond excited to be heading into my second year and meet my new kiddos! My first year has taught me so much about the tools my students need to be successful and my role in aiding them to become their best selves throughout the year.

Right now, I am planning to implement interactive binders for every student that will support them in taking ownership of their work and help them develop organizational skills that they need to be successful. Current enrollment suggest I will need around 100 binders.

Among the basic necessities I will need to purchase are:

  • binders
  • writing utensils
  • markers
  • paper
  • glue sticks
  • tape
  • staples

In addition to the basic necessities my students will need, I am teaching both 6th grade AND 8th grade science which is consequently two different curriculums. The vast difference in curriculum means that I will be purchasing double of the inquiry tools I believe will help my students truly engage with science. With your help I will purchase the following

Curriculum and inquiry tools

  • Subject specific anchor charts
  • Subject specific experimental kits (whole class and small group)
  • scales
  • rulers
  • graduated cylinders
  • beakers
  • magnets
  • lab coats
  • gloves
  • goggles

Any amount of support IS benefiting my classroom and my students success in STEM. My kiddos are the future, our future and I believe each one deserves an excellent education.

Back Up Plan

If we do not reach our goal I will slowly begin to purchase these materials paycheck by paycheck but any amount helps! Thank you for considering our youth and aiding me in achieving educational equity!
