The Description

With these funds I will be taking my students out of the city, for perhaps the first time in theirs lives, to the Pocono Mountains for a day of outdoor activities.  We will be going to Pocono Mountain Resort where my kids will hike and zip line in the morning.  After lunch, the kids will have access to pools, kayaks, and obstacles courses.  This trip is the culminating activity for the 2017-2018 8th grade, and my school's initial attempt to get our children out of the city and into nature.  The goal here is to present the 8th graders with a challenge by taking them out of their comfort zone, thus and hopefully, building the confidence and resilience in each of them that will be needed as they move from elementary school to high school.  The request for funds will be used for transportation costs ($1,200.00) and supplementing student fees ($55.00).  Since we are a fully funded Title 1 school, many of our students' will have a hard time financing this activity.  We have had numerous fundraisers to date to in order to reach our targeted goal of $2,700.00.  I would appreciate your consideration of this small, but important plea.

If we do not reach our goal I will take my kids to the zoo.
