The Description

With these funds I will purchase supplies for my 8th grade US History class. All $200 will be used for those things that students are not able to purchase on their own sometimes such as pencils, pens, rulers, paper, scissors, markers, map pencils, glue sticks, crayons, and pencil sharpeners. This money will help the flow of my classroom. Instead of having to ask, "Does anyone have a pencil that he/she can use?", we can simply begin class because I will have all the supplies they need. It is their job to grab what they need to begin their day. Studies have show that students learn better when their stress level is down. Part of reducing stress is ensuring they have what they need to accomplish their task. I do not want to gripe at them for not having supplies, because most of my students are unable to afford it. For that reason, I want to be proactive and have what they need. My students come to my class energized and ready to work and learn. This makes me more enthusiastic about teaching and helping them to learn. The link to the exact items is: http://www.officedepot.com/cart/shoppingCart.do. This has all items on my list for $199.62.

Back Up Plan

If I do not meet my goal I will purchase as much of the supplies as possible. In order of most necessary, it begins with pencils, pens, map pencils, glue sticks, scissors, markers, crayons, pencil sharpeners, scissors, and rulers. I need first the things that are used most often which is the writing utensils. Any amount of funding is greatly appreciated.

About the Creator

I am a first year teacher. I teach US History to 150 8th graders. I have a passion for teaching that I believe shows. I try to incorporate as much technology as possible into my classroom. Every student at our school has a tablet so incorporating technology is not too difficult to accomplish. I want to be a great teacher, but I don't always have the funds.
