It is critically important that students have opportunities to express their creativity, tinker, and explore without having to be “right.” This is the time where students make important connections to the real world for themselves and gain a deeper understanding of how things work. This year I want to give my students more opportunities to experiment and explore without the pressure of choosing a correct answer. That is why I want to purchase Makey Makey kits for my classroom. Makey is a STEM invention kit for the 21st century. With the kit students are able turn everyday objects into touchpads and combine them with the internet. The Makey Makey products provide hands-on, creative ways to encourage students to design, experiment, build and invent as they deeply engage in science, art, engineering and tinkering.
