Epic Lego Wall

The Description

With these funds we will build an 8x8 foot Lego wall in the library.  This requires two large sheets of plywood (at $30 each), 64 10x10 lego base plates ($8 per plate), and legos.  Students will be able to visualize math by figuring fractions, area, and perimeter.  They will be able to create or illustrate stories, practice their writing and even spelling words.  A Lego wall provides creative thought processes in problem-solving, instruction in building simple machines, robotic exercises, and even renewable energy instruction. A Lego wall would be an addition to our Makerspace library, providing innovative hands-on methods of engaging students in learning and creating.

Back Up Plan

If I do not meet my goal I will continue seeking funds from library fines, snack bar proceeds, and possible grants until enough is raised to complete the project. This is a priority Makerspace project for us.

About the Creator

I team-teach in the middle school library with Linda Stelzer. We have created the library as the hub of the school, a place for students to create, to collaborate, and to problem-solve, in addition to book checkout.
