Our mission statement will be carefully crafted by Dorothy J. Vaughan staff and school community.
Dorothy J. Vaughan Academy of Technology is a full CMS K-5 magnet school. Our magnet theme is Computer Science Immersion. The school building was the original site of Newell Elementary School, which closed in 2015 due to increased student enrollment and moved to a new location on Rocky River Road. The “old Newell” building has undergone renovations and will open in August 2017 as Dorothy J. Vaughan Academy of Technology. Prior to the naming, the school was referred to as University Area-Computer Science School. The enrollment will be 450 with all students participating in the lottery process. We are a member of the Magnet Schools of America Association.
