Fox Meadow Alternative High School

Yorktown Heights, New York

About

Fox Meadow serves students in grades 7 through 12 with a variety of social, emotional and learning needs. The school accepts students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 Plans as well as those in the general education program. Located on BOCES’ Fox Meadow campus off Route 132 in Yorktown Heights, Fox Meadow helps students who may have been lost in a large high school to find their way.

Classes are structured with one teacher and one aide for every eight students. Students are taught by certified content area teachers and special education teachers. Two behavior specialists are on site and group and individual counseling is woven into the school week, with services provided by a school social worker or school psychologist. Occupational, physical and speech language therapy are also available for students who need these supports.

Fox Meadow classes are very small, which helps create a bond between students and teachers. In addition to academic classes including English Language Arts, Algebra 1, Living Environment, Global Studies, U.S. History, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Astronomy, Physical Education and Art, Fox Meadow offers an on-site carpentry class, urban forestry and culinary programs.
