Hello! My name is Laura Daniels and I have been teaching for over 30 years in public schools. I recently moved to Los Angeles to help my daughter with some health needs and am now working at a small private school. I am in DESPERATE need of many items, but am BEGGING for help getting a SMARTBOARD or Interactive Whiteboard. I walked into a classroom with a teacher desk, studnets desks and chairs, a dated Chromebook to use and only a projector in my classroom. I took over for a teacher who resigned and was shocked at the lack.of learning materials and NO SMARTBOARD in helping students learn in the 21st century. Almost all of my lessons are digital and interactive and while I have made the adjustments needed, my students are missing out on 21st century skills in the classroom. We offer many scholarships to students which leaves little budget for classroom needs. I have already spent about $500 of my own money since I started mid Pctober 2024, but due to my daughter's needs, can no longer afford to buy items for my classroom. While we need basic supplies like scissors, colored pencils, STEM supplies, flexible seating options, learning aides and more, the primary focus right now is a SMARTBOARD. I am BEGGING for help to bring my students into the 21st century with technology. I know this will help them be more engaged, foster creativity, provide opportunities that address multiple modalities of learning, enhance social emotional development and memorable activities to help retain skills and concepts. My students are energetic, curious, thoughtful and deserving of help. PLEASE consider helping my students! Thank you in advance for your consideration.
