KIPP Sunnyside High School (KSHS) is in its fourth school year serving college-bound 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th graders from Houston’s Third Ward, Hiram Clarke, and Sunnyside communities. The academic and co-curricular programs at KSHS provide a college preparatory experience that empowers students with the knowledge, skills, and mindsets to go to and through college.

James Taylor

10th grade teacher

James Taylor hails from Atlanta, Georgia and is currently founders/board member of two other organization (Unfamiliar Talent and Promote Christ Ent). James is currently finishing up his M.B.A at Texas Southern University in Houston TX and also received his B.S. in Mathematics at Morehouse College 2010. James currently is teaching High School Math at Kipp Sunnyside, where he enjoys teaching and giving back to society. Mr. Taylor has been working and traveling to Ghana, Africa for the last four years, giving back and working in various communities to help with areas of need, He was enstool to be a Chief back in May 2014, and was given a task of a developmental chief. Mr. Taylor has been dedicated to serving his community and wants to continue to reach others all over the world. Mr. Taylor was also an Oprah Scholar at Morehouse College and also had a chance to be on her show an meet her as well. He is passionate about working with at-risk youth and has a strong desire to carry out the mission God has given him.
