About

PBC's mission is to use community events, culture building, and traveling as avenues for developing and supporting 9th-12th grade students of East Oakland.

We want our youth to have a foreign experience of traveling to developing countries so that they can return with a different outlook on life to improve their lives in our community.

PBC is a non-profit organization that focuses on taking 9th-12th grade men and women from East Oakland to developing nations to improve their life long experiences. We strive to see our youth return to America with different perspectives, more passion and more ambition to improve their lives and our communities. PBC started during the summer of 2017 and continues to work out of Castlemont High School. In our first year, we took 22 students and teachers to China. Joining PBC means students have access to learning foreign languages, business strategies, management, and community engagement while building relationships with people, businesses, and our community.

I’m a high school teacher in an inner city community that’s home to students who have faced some of life’s most difficult challenges. I’ve been teaching at this school for 6 years and I’ve started a nonprofit organization that helps support students perform community service and travel abroad to developing countries.
