Payson Seymour Elementary is composed of grades ranging from Pre-Kindergarten to 6th grade. We are an excellent example of the benefits of a small school. We have small classes (none larger than 22 students) that allow our teachers to truly know each individual student.

We implemented the Response To Intervention (RTI) program last year -- this program uses data gathered during testing and in class to identify any areas of weakness that each student has. Our schedule has a 30 minute "target time" built in for each grade (K-2 from 8:20-8:50, 3rd-5th from 10:20-10:50) in which we use that data to address those weaknesses. The individual attention that our students receive in class and during RTI "target time" greatly benefits their education. We reach students at all levels with our special education program, RTI, and our Talented and Gifted program. Any student who needs help with homework can stay after school and work with teachers and para-professionals at the "Homework Haven".

The LINK program allows our para-professionals and support staff to provide a caring and supportive environment for our students. This program "links" each student with an adult in our building so they have someone to go to if they have an issue to resolve.

Our students have the opportunity to engage daily in recess (twice a day for the Kindergarteners, 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders) and PE. They attend music class twice a week, and they go to the library weekly.

Students also have opportunities for extra-curricular activities. 4th, 5th and 6th graders students who are interested may participate in student council and the history fair. In 5th and 6th grade, the boys can participate in basketball and the girls can participate in volleyball. All 6th graders can run on the track team.

We are all different, colorful, and sugar sweet. We love to learn, explore, and teach others.
