I'm so excited to be a part of the TFA Nashville family and join the movement to solve education inequity in this country by providing students with a quality education. This summer I am participating in "Summer Academy," an intensive skill and knowledge development program for Metro Nashville Public School students, and also attending professional development programs including seminars, discussion groups, workshops, and content learning. Next year, I will be teaching 8th Grade Science at Brick Church College Prep, a middle school in North Nashville. I am incredibly excited to serve my students, and I know I have so much learning to do throughout this process. As a first year teacher, I am looking forward to fostering a creative, safe, and accessible classroom for all my students; to do this, I plan to decorate my room, provide students with necessary materials, and make sure that a lack of resources is never a barrier to my students' learning. I chose to become a teacher because I know all students deserve a high-quality education. Sadly, not every student is receiving the best education for many reasons. I was fortunate to have magnificent teachers believed in me and supported my aspirations. As a product of the public K-12 system, I know the challenges that schools can face with poor funding. I have chosen to join Teach for America because they target underserved schools who need teachers that are committed to achieving educational equity.

I just moved to Nashville at the end of May to start working with Teach for America whose core mission is fighting for education equity and excellence. I will be teaching in my own classroom in August and am very excited to get to meet my students and help them learn and grow. With that being said, running a classroom is expensive, especially for a recent college graduate who just moved. Any amount really does help to allow me to provide as many resources and opportunities as I can for my students.
