This reading resource provides students with safe, age-appropriate (every article vetted by child psychologist)current events at a range of reading levels (Lexile). Anew edition of five original articles is published everyMonday to Friday, 52 weeks a year. Thousands of schools use the daily articles as part of their non fiction literacy curricula. The leveled texts include “Read to Me” and vocabulary audio support, Spanish translations, interactive maps, and comprehension assessments aligned to state and national standards.The tool engages young readers and encourages them to write, draw, vote, and share their opinions on complex issues. The real-world topics inspire critical thinking and help students develop their persuasive writing. Getting started is quick and easy. Once you reach your goal, we will reach out to you with an onboarding email. Here we’ll collect a few pieces of information in order to create your username and password. Once you have your login information, you can log into our app.
News-O-Matic is delivered as a digital solution; combining daily updated reading materials (articles)with built-in assessments and tracking features. News-O-Matic offers an unprecedented level of engagement. Students can react to the articles they read in many ways, including sending messages and drawings. Some of the messages and drawings are then published in News-O-Matic (with NO personal information). This level of engagement — along with the quality of the content — is at the heart of News-O-Matic success among students and teachers.
News-O-Matic has the ability to deliver its content on any type of device, thanks to its web-based version and its apps. Once users receive their username/password, they can access News-O-Matic at school or at home, via whatever device they choose, and there is no extra cost. As a user is always linked to a class, the teacher can always access the usage data of his or her students.
