Supplies to Keep Us Going: Startup Classroom Supplies!

The Description

I teach Kindergarten to an incredibly bright, vivacious, and culturally diverse group of students in the Bronx. I am a teacher at Title 1 school, where 100% of the students receive free or reduced lunch. My students are hardworking, kind, and some of the strongest individuals I have ever met. My class is full of students who persevere through many obstacles and continue to strive. They cherish their education and come in everyday excited to learn and contribute to the special community we have built together. One of the biggest hurdles that students in high need schools face is a daily lack of necessary materials. Unfortunately, my school does not have the funds to provide adequate school supplies and it is often left to the teacher to fill in the gaps. It makes it infinitely more difficult for students to take part in activities and classwork when they do not have the basic supplies necessary. With your help, I will be able to provide those supplies to them and further their learning.

To get 2017 started off right, I will use the funds raised to purchase general classroom supplies needed to ensure my students are in a classroom that is clean and stocked full with materials. Thank you for your generosity! - Class K-206

About the Creator

I am excited to be a part of the TFA family and join the movement to solve education inequity in this country and provide all students with a quality education. I'm fortunate enough to be selected from a nationwide talent applicant pool to join a teacher corps comprised of leaders who commit a minimum of two years to teach in high need public schools. This summer I will be participating in an intensive skill and knowledge development program aiming to increase student achievement as well as a comprehensive professional development program including seminars, discussion groups, workshops, and content and professional learning communities specific to teaching license areas. I can't wait for my first year with Teach for America.
