The funds will be utilized for the boys and girls varsity basketball teams. (24) Uniforms will be purchased from Brand40(12) boys; (12) girls at brandforty.com. Each uniform is $70 x 24 plus $63 shipping and handling equals $1,743. We would also like to order team polos for the two teams as well from Brand40. The team polos are $22.50 x 24 plus $63 shipping and handling. The Gulfton basketball team has worn the same outdated uniforms for the past 5 years and they have NEVER had team polos or anything brand new. The varsity boys team uniform is black and silver when the school colors are blue and silver. The JV team does not have uniforms at all and they wear practice jerseys and must purchase their own shorts which no one can find the same type or color. With new uniforms for the varsity teams, the JV can have the old varsity jerseys which will give them some since of team. The girls' uniforms are outdated and are either too big or too small and none of them fit the girls correctly. The new uniforms would allow the athletes to experience having team equipment like other schools have and not hand me downs. The team polos give each athlete something to wear on game day for professional dress. The athletes do not have the finances to purchase slacks, tie, or appropriate dresses for game day attire. If we have team polos and ask them to wear khakis that would be less of a strain on parents to meet the criteria of purchasing new clothes for game day.  They will look and feel like a true high school varsity team.
