The Description

Starting this fall, I will have the absolute honor of teaching 7th grade English Language Arts at Madison Middle School in Miami, Florida. As a new teacher, I am beyond excited to get into the classroom, meet my students, and be the best teacher I can possible be to help them succeed in their personal, academic, and professional development.

As some may know, a lack of school supplies, resources, and materials is one of the greatest obstacles to student growth. Without basic necessities such as paper, pens/pencils, folders, and notebooks, students are unable to fully direct their focus to the lesson and maximize their learning. This issue is amplified in underfunded schools, in which many students may not have the means to purchase their own materials and teachers have the responsibility to stock their classrooms.

To get the year started off right, I will use the funds that I raise to purchase the startup supplies needed to welcome my students to a classroom that is clean and stocked full with materials. This will allow me to provide the required supplies to students that otherwise would not have them. I will also purchase copy paper to ensure that I can provide my students with high quality learning materials, whether that is exit tickets, independent activities, or homework.

Every dollar I receive will be put towards classroom supplies so anything you can contribute really will make a difference for my first year. I want to make a great impression and a lasting impact on my first group of students and letting them know that they have a community that supports them both near and far will definitely get us on the right track.
