As many of you know, I will begin teaching high school Spanish in Guilford County with Teach For America. I have been training in Atlanta for the last four weeks, teaching a summer school World Area Studies course at KIPP Atlanta Collegiate - a charter school where I have had the pleasure of learning alongside some fantastic young people. Every day brings forth a new challenge but it has truly been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. However, the more time I spend in the classroom the more I realize how many resources are necessary for a class to run smoothly. Unfortunately, the Title 1 schools that TFA partners with often do not have the funds to provide these resources to their students. For the next few weeks, I will be raising money for school supplies and classroom necessities that will help me give my students in Greensboro the classroom experience they deserve.
