The Description

To start off the second semester, I would like my students to be able to reflect on daily activities in and out of school. It is important that my students have the time and opportunity to think about their actions, outcomes, and goals on a daily basis. In order to provide them with this opportunity, I would like to give all of my students a journal of their own, that they can use to write down their thoughts in a safe and personal space.

With the funds that I raise, I will purchase a notebook (or two) that my students can use for the rest of the year. With your generous donations, my students will have the opportunity to take time for themselves and reflect on their day, which as we all know, can be a powerful tool for our students.

Back Up Plan

If I do not meet my goal, I will purchase as many journals as possible. I will start by trying to at least purchase one journal per student

About the Creator

Creating a unique classroom learning environment, utilizing "flexible seating", my 5th graders
have eagerly taken over their space! They collaborate together, moving cushions and furniture to do so. I have one dry erase board and one smaller portable one. They use these DAILY, working around and over each other to try to get their thoughts on the board. They record their thinking using Chromebooks, screencastifying their data. My dry erase boards are NOT enough for them. I wish I could take them off the wall and make them portable!
Seeing mcSquares, this would be the answer to their needs! Having a wall designated for the movable squares, my students would use these daily and hourly, creating, collaborating, and sharing their work and asking each other questions.
McSquares really would further my vision for this classroom and for my future leaders.
