KIPP Polaris Academy for Boys is looking to create a balanced educational model for our young men. It was the desire of the current school leader to advocate for his students to receive the benefits of music, which led to bringing music back to the young gentlemen of Polaris this school year. This curriculum is important because it will not only guide our boys through a journey of great creativity, but also through self-discovery in music. By learning the basics, our boys will have a jumpstart to learning all facets of vocal and instrumental music prior to their matriculation to high school.  I would like to make sure that our students receive the ultimate music experience as they matriculate K-12 and BEYOND to and THROUGH college!!

Back Up Plan

If we don't reach our entire goal we will continue working hard to fundraise in other ways. We will continue to advocate for our needs to be met in every outlet that we can, so that students here can have access to quality, free, music education.

About the Creator

Entering my 5th year of teaching, and my third year with KIPP, I have always worked hard to serve students in under served communities. As a music teacher who comes from an under served community, I identify with my students, and push them to be successful, using their creative talent! Music education has changed in the past 20-30 years, and we are trying to grown and adapt within this. Having STEAM programs, where students in every grade from K-12 should have the opportunity to be exposed and taught, adds value beyond measure in the lives of our students. The Arts are essential to a well rounded student; this is my fight for my students. Music is my life; teaching is my lifelong passion.
