The Description

With more students taking AP classes, College Board frequently redesigns the curriculum and exams. After one year of teaching AP U.S. Government & Politics I am facing major redesign for which the College Board offers 4-day redesign classes.

Our school predominantly serves students of color and from low-income households. It is our school's mission to make sure that our students have the same educational opportunities as anyone else. In order to support that mission, I am asking for financial support in attending the AP Summer Institute for U.S. Government and Politics at the Marist School in Georgia.

I am personally covering the cost of transportation, food, and lodging, but cannot cover the cost of conference tuition on my own. Any contribution you make will directly create a better opportunity for my students to earn passing scores on the AP Exam and college credit. Thank you so much for your support in leveling the educational playing field.

Back Up Plan

Should I not be able to attend this training, I will do my best to make sense of the 100+ page redesign guide and develop redesigned curriculum and assessments on my own.

Governerd in action!

June 12, 2018

Dear friends,

Halfway through the Gov't training seminar, I wanted to again thank you for your generous support. The sessions have been intense and excellent, and I have already hammered out concrete ways to do a better job teaching the AP U.S. Gov't class in the 2018-19 academic year. Attached is a photo of a pretty squinty me that I hope nonetheless captures some of my gratitude and excitement for this training session.

Many, many thanks!

Christopher

Thank you!

Dear friends,

Thank you so very much for your support! As a result of your generosity we have exceeded the goal of covering tuition The extra money will also be used to support my attendance at the AP training session by offsetting the cost of transportation and lodging.

I am very excited to head out to Atlanta on Sunday to begin to master the new content and exam for AP U.S. Government and Politics. I will be sure to let my students know that there are many people out there who believe in their right to an excellent education and are actively supporting it.

Most sincerely!
