With these funds I will be able to purchase brand new books for my classroom library. For many of my students I'm the only access they have to quality books for various reasons. One being that access to their local public library is limited. Another being the nearest bookstore is a 25 minute drive away and the reality is making that drive, or long bus ride, to purchase books is not a priority for some of our families. I allow my students to take books home and checkout new books as soon as they finish reading one so they always have a book in hand. I've also seen some positive behavior changes now that my boys are consistently reading.

Another reason these funds will be super beneficial is that I get complaints all the time about not buying completed novel series. With this grant I can complete some series we already have and purchase completed sets of other popular novel series. Series that I would use funds to complete are "Justin Case" by Rachel Vail, "Daniel X" by James Patterson, "Big Nate" by Lincoln Pierce, "Captain Underpants" by Dan Pilkey, and "Yuck" by Matt and Dave just to name a few. I'd only purchase one of each of these books to complete the series. Each book, if it's not hardback, costs anywhere between $8 - $11. First Books offers books at a discounted rate so some books would be purchased from that site as well as at Half Price Books and on Amazon. Buying these books, along with others, will probably cost more that $200 but I'll get what I can and supplement the rest.
