Students Traveling the World

The Description

With these funds we will partially fund the trip of 25 low socioeconomic students to travel to Germany, Italy, Austria, and Switzerland. 75%+ students are low socioeconomic economic, 50% are ESE, and 90% are minority. The trip is beig led by their English and History teachers, as a way for them to experience the world and the culture while visiting places we learned about in class. When we are in Germany we will visit Dachau concentration camp, Harburg castle, hofbrauhaus tour, Nymphenburg palace and gardens, just to name a few. We will then travel to Venice, Italy where we will learn how to blow glass, visit Doge’s Palace, and St. Mark’s Basilica while experiencing in the culture and people of Italy. Students will then travel to Verona, Italy and visit Juliet’s house and balcony,  and Verona’s Roman Amphitheater. After spending the day soaking in the Italian culture, we will make our way to Lucerne, Switzerland. Where students will travel to the top of the Alps, bask in the serene beauty of the Swiss countryside, while experiencing an authentic Swiss fondue. The cost of the trip is $5,150 per student and that includes all travel, hotel,  entry into all scheduled stops/museums, breakfast and dinner.

Back Up Plan

If we do not reach our goal students will have to either pay the entire cost themselves or not be able to attend the trip.

About the Creator

I am a veteran teacher with over 20 years of experience. I have taught at the secondary level, at the same school I went to, for the entirety of my career. I have taught all levels of learners, in a couple of different subject areas. My students have a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. The school I teach at educates roughly 3000 students a year. It is situated in a small-“ish” town. While we are a title 1 school meaning the majority of our students are low-socioeconomic status. Our school has a rich athletic and academic history- but that often overshadows and brushes aside the struggle of our students.
