Chromebooks for Writers Workshop!

$0
$600 goal
The Description
With these funds I will purchase 2 Chromebooks for my classroom. My goal is to become a paperless classroom, so that my students can use Google Classroom for all of our writing projects. This way, instead of printing out stories, articles, worksheets, directions, response journals, all of this will be organized digitally. I am already using Classroom, which has been great because my kids can access their account and all of my handouts anywhere they go, even using their own cellphones. However, I'm still providing paper copies of everything, which is just so wasteful! I hate the amount of paper we waste, and I really can't wait until we become paperless once I have enough Chromebooks for everyone! I also think going paperless will be really helpful to our students with organizational difficulties. No more lost papers! Chromebooks are inexpensive, easy to use, and start up quickly, which saves class time. Students will be able to use the Chromebooks to create presentations for book talks, write and submit writing assignments to Google Classroom, and get my feedback quickly and efficiently. Students will use the Chromebooks to collaborate on group assignments, as well as peer editing each others' individual projects. With Chromebooks and Google Classroom, we can all be working on a collaborative project together, we can videochat with other classrooms, and I can differentiate lessons for individuals or groups of students so easily! Please help me reach my goal of using Google Classroom to become a paperless classroom!
Back Up Plan
If I do not meet my goal I will purchase some Chromebooks anyway, using my own money to make up the difference. My dad has also promised to donate some money (he's a retired teacher and principal and likes that I'm carrying on the legacy!) So, if you donate money to my classroom, I promise you that it will be used to purchase one or more Chromebooks, depending on how much money I raise. Currently, I have 65 students, and I teach them all in three blocks of two periods each. I'm assuming that Chromebooks have at least a 5 year lifespan (hopefully more!), so your donation will be helping a minimum of 325 students.
