This upcoming August I will have my very first elementary classroom! I am beyond excited to start my first year as a teacher in Miami-Dade County public schools. I can’t wait to meet all my students along with their families. I want to provide a fun and enriching classroom environment for my students and the first step toward doing that is providing necessary supplies. One of the biggest barriers that students in high need schools face is a lack of necessary materials that are needed daily. Lacking basic supplies makes it extremely more difficult for students to engage in the classroom.

 To start the school year off right, I will use the funds that I raise to purchase startup supplies needed in the classroom. This will allow me to provide required supplies to students that they otherwise would not have. Some of the items on my list include copy paper - to ensure I can provide my students with high quality learning materials such as exit tickets, independent activities or homework.
