With these funds, I will be able to "jump-start" a movement in which all Mastery campuses will unite in a common purpose of, not only bringing a quality education to the city of Philadelphia and Camden, New Jersey, but also bringing a musical wave of love, respect, dedication, hard-work, and discipline. There is a Mastery school in each neighborhood, but we are not as unified as we could be. This would be a GREAT first step in doing this. This is why it will impact my life and the lives of Philadelphia and Camden.

The lives of my students will be impacted in so many ways. Not only, will they get drum equipment to have a artistic venue of expression, but they will also know that people care about them and their well-being. In high school, I was a part of a drill team where I learned how to play the drums. I was always that kid in the back of the classroom beating on the table or anything I could. I loved music, but I never had a way to express it. When I was given the chance, I learned how to be a leader, I learned how hard work will get me to where I want to be in life, and I learned discipline. The arts can show our student so much, but they are usually ignored. I want to bring life to the arts for the world of education. Mastery is the model for many schools, so we should be the first to level the field of importance between academics and art. They do go hand and hand. I exceeded expectations after I joined a drill team that led me to receive a full academic scholarship, so I expect nothing less from those with a similar program.

My school currently has four bass drums that we borrowed from a different campus. The money I am pleading for is for our own drums - bass drums, snare drums, tenor drums, and other equipment we may need (sticks, straps, foam, etc.), uniforms, and for trips to competitions.
