How much more fun and enjoyable could learning have been if we could have gotten up and moved when our bodies needed it!  No more "Can I go to the bathroom?" or "Can I go get a drink of water?" because my body just can't stand to be still any longer!

With these funds I will purchase adjustable stools for my students.  Research has proven that allowing students to stand and to move while working increases students ability to learn, focus, and has shown to improve test scores.  With some elbow grease, I have been able to adjust the height of my students' desks so that they can comfortably stand and work.  However, this has caused it to be somewhat challenging when students need to sit in order to rest or to be more comfortable and meet individual needs.  This is where our need comes in.  With these stools, my students will be able to adjust the height of his or her stool so that he or she is at the most comfortable position for learning.  They will also be able to have more movement than a regular chair will allow.

My students deserve this because ALL students deserve a safe, comfortable, and research proven learning environment that meets each one's individual needs.  My school is in a rural area and serves a very low income community.  Our school is a school wide Title 1 school with more that 50% qualifying for the free and reduced meals program.  Please help me to provide the best possible learning environment for my students now and for years to come.
