Seating for Success!

The Description

With these funds I will purchase more seating options for my students to use in my classroom. Currently my students have a choice between a regular chair, cushioned chair, wobble seat, or ball. Unfortunately, I only have 1 ball now and a few cushions, which means that students cannot have as much choice as they need. I allow them to choose the best seat for their desk, so that they can be more focused and engaged. During reading and independent work time they can sit on the carpet, but I still have limited options for that time as well. With these funds I plan to purchase seat spots, 3 wobble seats, 4 lap desks, 4 balls, and 2 floor seats.

Back Up Plan

If we do not reach our goal I will purchase one of each item in this order: ball, floor seat, lap desk, wobble stool, and seat spots. I am choosing the order based on my current students' preferences and needs.

About the Creator

I began teaching in 2011 and moved to my current district in 2016. This is the community that I live in and I know these children very well, many are my neighbors. I decided I wanted to teach when I was in elementary school and have focused all my studies on that goal. I began volunteering in elementary classrooms while in high school and I would always TA for teachers as a class period. I taught preschool while going to college and substitute taught while getting my credential. I love working with students of all ages in all areas.
I believe a student’s desire and passion for learning is formed during their first few years of school, so it is very important to capture their love for school early on. The students come to my classroom excited for the day and I work very hard to ensure that this excitement continues throughout each day. The students come from a wide range of home environments, but they all come from families that want the best for their children.
