The Description

My seventh-grade science students are creative, innovative, and full of ideas. They love hands-on learning, design challenges, and any chance to connect science to real life. Many of my students come from under-resourced communities, but when you hand them a project to build, design, or create, they shine. I am requesting an xTool M1 Hybrid Laser & Cutting Machine to transform our classroom into a small-scale maker space where science, creativity, and technology come together.

With this tool, my students will be able to cut and engrave atom and molecule shapes, create scaled prototypes for PBL, Design 2D and 3D science models, and build real-world items that make their science learning come alive. The xTool M1 will allow students to turn science data, measurements, and data into tangible creations they can hold, test, present, and be proud of. Hands-on STEM tools are often missing from classrooms like mine. My students rarely get access to high-tech design tools that engineers, creators, and designers use in the real world. The xTool M1 is a safe and compact machine that combines laser engraving, precision cutting, and blade crafting, giving students a powerful bridge between science concepts and real-world creation. This equipment will power STEAM and PBL (problem-based learning) projects and EDP (Engineering Design Process), building real-world skills, inspiring future scientists and engineers through authentic design and creation.

This project brings authentic engineering and scientific design into a classroom where curiosity is strong, but resources are limited. A laser engraver will allow students to design, prototype, test, and refine real-world solutions within STEAM. Students will apply science and engineering principles in ways that mirror professional design labs, gaining experience that builds confidence, competence, and purpose. For many of our learners from low-income families, this technology represents access to opportunities they rarely encounter but deeply aspire to reach.

Our students are motivated, capable, and eager to contribute meaningfully to the world, yet they often lack exposure to science, engineering, and technology careers. By supporting this project, you provide a powerful “hand up” that opens doors to higher education pathways and careers in STEAM fields. Your generosity helps ignite lifelong curiosity, cultivate problem-solvers, and empower young minds who are ready to rise when given the chance. Your investment does more than fund equipment; it changes the trajectory of a child’s future. Your support affirms that brilliance exists everywhere—and that with the right tools, these students can engineer their own futures.

Help me give my students an xTool F1 Portable Laser Engraver to bring science to life through hands-on engineering, allowing them to create models of the human body and custom lab tools that make complex concepts tangible and exciting.

Back Up Plan

If we do not reach our goal I will purchase...another machine which will be hopefully within the budget of the money I can raise.
