KIPP Polaris Academy for Boys is a school that is located within the North Forest community of Northeast Houston.  The students that serve are coming from underserved communities in the Northeast Houston area. Over 84% of our students are from low-income families and eligible for federal free and reduced-priced meals program.  The demographics is 52% African-American males and 48% Latino males.  As a KIPP teacher, my mission is to work hard everyday and plan engaging experiences in the classroom that will ensure the results of each of my students to go to and through college and beyond.    

With these funds I will purchase a class set of iPad Minis (a set of 30 will cost $8,970) and stylus (approximately $30) which will assist with differentiated instruction for my students.  There are a number of apps that are available on iTunes that develop the learning of students, especially in mathematics.  I want to provide my students with access to resources that will expose them to rewarding experiences that they may not receive within their community.  It is my hope that my students will not only master the curriculum that is required by the state for their grade level but will also utilize the knowledge to make extraordinary changes within their community in the present and in the future.
