The funds raised will be used toward purchasing music composition software (Mixcraft 7) for the Windows OS laptops at my school.  This will allow my general music students whom may not have a desire to actually learn to play an instrument or sing be given a chance to create music using drum loops and other synthesized sounds while giving explanations to why they created what they created.

The majority of my students are Hispanic and African American and come from very underprivileged home lives.  Many of them get excited about the opportunity to use a computer since they don't have one at home.  

Currently, students in my general music classes have the opportunity to learn about music using African hand drums, guitars, and keyboards.  The students enjoy when I give them some free time to play with the keyboard sound effects/pre-recorded drum loops, but this doesn't give them the opportunity to record multiple instrument tracks to create their own songs.  Using this software will allow them the option to create and record their own sounds, or choose from pre-recorded loops to mix together into their own projects to listen back to.  

I will be purchasing 10 of the Mixcraft 7 software.  Each unit is $37.50 as stated for a school district purchasing between 5-24 units.
