The Description

With these funds, I will purchase two iPad minis for my classroom. Next school year, I am transitioning to a Flipped Classroom concept. The flipped classroom is a pedagogical model in which the traditional lecture and homework elements of a course are reversed. Short video lectures are viewed by students at home before the class session while in-class time is devoted to exercises, projects, or discussions. My school is a Title 1 campus which means that more than 50% of the students receive free or reduced lunch. Also, many students come from a low socioeconomic background which hinders their access to technology outside of the classroom. The funding will allow students who do not have an iPad or computer at home a chance to watch the instructional video on the class mini iPads that were purchased. Red Elementary is a STEM Magnet school and our 21st-century learners are learning through everyday technological advances. Technology is used daily in my classroom and all students should have the opportunity to engage in digital learning experiences. Supporting my cause as I strive to educate the bright, innovative, and stimulating minds of our nation's future leaders.
