With these funds I will purchase 192 copies of the book "Ghost Boys" by Jewell Parker Rhodes, for the entire 8th grade class. When students are able to own a book, they take ownership from the knowledge they gain. This inspiring book, has, in the past, transformed my most challenged readers into confident readers, and my most confident readers into thoughtful readers. Our unit question is "How is knowledge power?" This book teaches the students about a different type of power that knowledge can hold.
