The Description

This is the first year for our Garden Club and there are no existing structures or equipment.  We have a total of 11 students and I expect that number to double easily next year once students begin to see flowers and vegetables around the school. Our students range in grades 3 - 6.  Our goal this year is to build 3 raised beds 8x4 for flowers and vegetables. We will also be creating beds for pollinators to create our own ecosystem around our garden.

Our mission is create interest and educate children in growing their own food to promote a healthy lifestyle through eating and outdoor activities.

We are asking for these funds so that we can build raised beds, tools, buy topsoil, water hoses, seeds and plants, and build bird feeders.

The materials we need are 9 each 4x8x10 boards for the raised beds and 350 cubic feet of topsoil. We also need to buy starter plants this year.  Next year we will start from seeds, which is cheaper. Our storage location is in the basement of the building, so we need 3 each 50 ft. pocket hoses (shrinking kind) for ease of carrying. Our water source is not close. If there is any money left, we would like to build a bench to sit and enjoy our garden.

Back Up Plan

If we do not reach our goal I will purchase what I can and look for other fund raising resources to make our Garden Grow.

Fundraiser Updates (1)

Winter is here and Spring is coming!

January 12, 2018

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. Your donations are very appreciated.  Please help us reach our goal.

We only need $56 more to get this garden started.  We have been meeting every Tuesday after school and doing research about soil and gardening.  The students have been doing in class root vegetable experiments.  The look on their face and their excitement when they came back and saw that their carrots has sprouted tops was amazing.

Please help us reach our goal.

Thank you very much.
