With these funds I will be able to support some of my boys with winter garments during this holiday season. The population we serve is largely low-income and many families cannot always afford the basic necessities. Our school requires that all students wear school designated sweaters or hoodies and these are not cheap. A v-neck cardigan sweater costs $28.50 and the hoodies cost $32.50. This often presents a challenge for families when they have choose between their child being warm on the way to school or while at school; the classrooms are usually kept pretty cold to keep the germs away. That being said, some students need heavier coats and/or sweaters just to have for days they're not at school. With these funds I could also purchase thermals for students to wear under their uniform polos to keep them warm at school. Thermals cost anywhere between $8 - $12 depending on the size. 

Students should be comfortable while learning and these items will assist with that. It also helps build self-esteem and self-confidence when you have basic clothing items while at school. Many of the students who will benefit from these funds are outstanding students with good grades and the behavior to match.
