Detroit Leadership Academy Middle High School is a 6th through 11th Grade Facility that instructs approximately 275 students. We are located on Evergreen just north of Ford Road on the Westside of Detroit.
DLA is a college preparatory school that prepares students for successful careers. As a student at Detroit Leadership Academy you are able to learn in small classes sizes by passionate teachers that care about your well being and academic excellence. Students are encouraged to participate in sports starting at the Middle School level through High School. Mentoring is also available through the collaboration of Big Brother Big Sister and Ford Motor Credit. Students can also work with mentors from Henry Ford Health Systems and Health Alliance Plan.
We are a community school that believes in community and neighborhood partnerships. We work with organizations like the Skillman Foundation, the Detroit YMCA, the Detroit Police and Michigan State Police Departments, Target Corporation, Quicken Loans, and so many others.

My desire to teach in a low-income community was driven by one overall reason and that is to help in the fight to close our nation’s achievement gap. The ability to read is one of the most fundamental building blocks of humanity. All children should be encouraged by their teachers regardless of the area code in which they live in and I feel called to return the privilege that was afforded to me by my education. When I look at America, I see a country with a lot that needs to change but I am dedicated to education because I see that it builds bridges and closes gaps that have for too long stood in the way of the potential of this country’s advancement.
