Director of Academy of Engineering

I am currently the director of the academy's of engineering at Freedom Middle School in Orlando,Florida. I have been a teacher for the last 18 years. I have taught U.S. History, Math and now PLTW . I enjoy teaching middle school students, because it is the perfect time for students to explore and learn that there is more than one way to reach a solution. I feel that when I can make my students understand how STEM education is relevant to their future careers, they get excited.

I have been teaching middle school for the past 15 years. My first middle school was in a very affluent area of town and we never lacked for anything. The school I've been at for the past 10 years is a Title 1 school, and my students lack even the most basic tools to be successful in class. My goal is to provide them access to the same level of technology as my previous school so that my students have the same experiences that their peers across town would.
