Funston Elementary School provides a comprehensive bilingual/monolingual academic program for students in grades Pre-K through 8th grade. We have an extremely dedicated and highly qualified teaching staff who value all our students and work to customize instruction to every student’s needs.
Our mission at Funston School is to prepare students to become critical thinkers, problem solvers, responsible citizens, and positive contributors to the school community, and the world. We embrace the belief that every student can learn and we are committed to professional growth in order to meet the social-emotional and academic needs of all special education, bilingual education, and general education students. We strive to foster
community partnerships, increase parental involvement, provide supportive resources, and implement engaging and coherent instructional programs that will result in the student's academic achievement now, in high school, and beyond.
Funston School envisions itself as a school of excellence with a nurturing and safe climate that promotes mutual respect, individuality, and continuous learning for all students, staff, and community members. We see each and every one of our students as empowered individuals that will take ownership of their education in order to achieve higher levels of academic success throughout their elementary, middle, and high school life, and ultimately, pursue a post-secondary education, vocation, or entrepreneurship.

I am a middle school math teacher who teaches kids in an economically disadvantaged area of Chicago. My students are in great need of an intervention math program in order to help close the learning gap and bring them up to grade level. My goal is to get them working on this before January so come June they achieve their goal.
