About

Recipe for Success Foundation was launched in 2005 to combat childhood obesity by changing the way children understand, appreciate and eat their food and by helping the community to provide healthier diets for children. In just a few years, our signature Seed-to-Plate Nutrition Education™ Program, which features common core and TEKS aligned hands-on garden and culinary curriculum, grew to the largest outreach of its kind in the nation, empowering over 4,000 children each and every month. Through the Affiliate Partnership Program, any campus can deliver Seed-to-Plate Nutrition Education™ with virtual training and support provided by the foundation. The extensive curriculum for Pre-K through fifth grade students connects the produce in their gardens to the food on their plates, prepares them with life skills they will carry into adulthood, AND has produced remarkable and sustained behavior changes. Other initiatives, like the VegOut! Challenge, Farmers MarKIDS, Hope Farms, Rolling Green Market, and Eat It! Food Adventures, promote a culture where nutritious food is shared, appreciated and celebrated.

Sydney Alexander

Health and Nutrition Specialist at Alexander's Academy

I recently graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Human Development and Family Studies and have had children's nutrition education on my heart since taking my first health course. I am employed at Alexander's Academy Childcare, where I am the Health and Nutrition Specialist as well as a Seed-to-Plate Nutrition Education certified instructor. I will be changing the menu at both centers on top of implementing Recipe for Success's curriculum to provide our large amount of children with health education and fresh, nutritious meals.
