Southwest Elementary, USD 382
About
We are proud to show off our school to visitors, as we have recently added on beautiful new classrooms, a spacious gymnasium, and a new library. Our professional staff is warm and caring and strives to meet the individual educational needs of all of our students. Classroom instruction is designed around the Common Core standards that provide rigor and relevance in our curriculum. CGI Math(Cognitively Guided Instruction) is used in our classrooms to provide students with the opportunity to build on their own mathematical thinking. A multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) provides a prescriptive education for all students in reading and math.
Southwest students are fortunate to have access to first class technology that includes Smartboards and document cameras (in every classroom), as well as new ipad carts and mobile computer labs. The Character Counts program promotes the traits of Trustworthiness, Caring, Responsibility, Citizenship, Respect, and Fairness in our students. Southwest parents have the opportunity to join our awesome PTO that supports our school community through the year!! Parents can also take advantage of our Beyond the Bell after school program, which provides a snack, homework support, and enrichment activities for students in grades K-5.
Once a Greenback, Always a Greenback!

Richelle Quesnel
3rd grade teacher
I teach third grade at Southwest Elementary for USD382. I have been in the classroom for 2 years. I am currently going back to school to get a Masters in Education. I plan on making my classroom a fun, open setting environment and plan on achieving this goal with the help of PledgeCents and my community. Open setting allows the students to work in a open environment of their choice. They can choose to work at a desk, standing area, cozy chair or in a group setting.

3rd Grade Teacher
I am a third grade teacher at Southwest Elementary in Pratt, KS. I have been in the classroom for 17 years. I will graduate with a Masters of Education with an emphasis in Technology this summer. I am interested in implementing flexible or alternative seating in my classroom this year. This means that when students are working they will have the freedom to find comfortable work spaces around the room. Research shows that students are able to focus and do their best work when they are comfortable.
