About

Our students love music and they love coming to band! Our program has tripled in size and our small budget doesn't allow us to buy extra advanced items or trips for the students we now service. Some of these students had zero hope of ever being able to afford to play an instrument, until they came to our school, where we provide an instrument to every student. Music is a huge part of Texas's education and our students deserve the best. These students have worked very hard over the past three years to grow this program from literally 40 students to over 300. They are dedicated and passionate and love coming to band. We are one of the few CCC middle schools in the North Texas area that doesn't require students to purchase many of the things that allow us to be competitive before they are allowed to be in the top group. We are getting to a point where their skill levels are now requiring more advanced tools, and these tools and trips are essential!

My students are comprised of about 325 students who come from various backgrounds. Many had zero hope of ever being able to afford to play an instrument, until they came to our school where we provide an instrument to every student. Music is a huge part of Texas education and our students deserve the best. These students have worked very hard over the past three years to grow this program from literally 40 students to over 300. They are dedicated and passionate and love coming to band class. Our school is a low socioeconomic school where we try to offer them everything we can at the least amount of cost possible so they can participate in the electives. Our rule is that NO student is denied band because they can't afford it. Our school budget is typically spent on repairing our facility that was built in the early 30's, and by the end of the year there is little left for the classrooms.
