North High School catalyzes the academic and personal success of all students. North High School aspires to be Denver’s premier high school. Surprised? Many probably are. As recently as five years ago, North was identified as a turnaround school with a struggling reputation with anemic academics, few extracurricular activities, a low graduation rate, and high drop-out rate. To be a Viking was not necessarily equated with college and career readiness. The new North is safe and welcoming. It has a strong culture of academic excellence with Advanced Placement (AP), Honors and college credit classes, as well as early intervention and strong tutoring support for students that want to accelerate or for those who start falling behind in classes. We have academic elective pathways that allow students to excel in the fields of music, visual arts, drama, technology, fitness, JROTC, and world languages. We also focus on the seven key personal success factors to help prepare our students to be college and career ready. Our scholars, staff, and families are now all solidly proud to be Vikings. It has been an amazing transformation!
